Everything about Conolophus totally explained

The Galápagon land iguanas are the genus Conolophus. This Generic name is derived from two Greek words cono meaning "spiny" and loph meaning "crest", denoting the spiny crests along the backs of these species. The number of species of this variable genus has always been disputed; the most current taxonomic surveys suggest that two main lineages exist:
  • Barrington Land Iguana, Conolophus pallidus
  • Galápagos Land Iguana proper, Conolophus subcristatusFurther Information
